Art Is Spiritual, Therapeutic and Healing

Art Is Spiritual, Therapeutic and Healing

Everyone requires food for the soul and spirit, particularly in our homes and places of recovery from the outside world and bombardment of negative news or people.

Our home environment is our Sacred Space to nurture, as well as fill ourselves and reservoirs in order for us to draw from this source to give and share with others.  Nature, Art, Music and connection to our Bodies, Minds and Souls will help keep us in balance and should always be a part of our everyday existence and rituals. We perform rituals in our lives everyday, such as bathing, eating, prayers, brushing our teeth, feeding animals, washing clothes; why then should we not have a ritual to fill up our spirits and souls by viewing, interacting and healing with the energies of  nature and beauty? Quieting the noise, over stimulation of the senses and negativity of everyday life is a must in staying balanced and healthy.

We are always looking for ways to fill the voids in our lives, consciously or unconsciously.  Fill your life by connecting to the beauty of nature, and surrounding yourself with items that have creative energy as part of them. By "creative energy" I am referring to energy from a human or nature that created the item, be it by hand or growth and instilled their thoughts, feelings, vibrations, hearts, and souls into the item produced.

Learn to use your creative talents, in any form you find connects you to nature and beauty; and yes, we all have them.  We may only remember our friends and family saying, "don't give up your day job," after our first attempt at creating, but that is just the common mantra from the mass production of products generation.  Handcrafted items are Functional Art intended to connect the creator and the owner or viewer of the art. It is communication in the purest form without words, as is music or sound without words.

Art is most definitely spiritual as it is creation from our internal God Source.  It speaks directly from our connection with the Collective Consciousness through our hands, transferred directly into a statement to be shared, communicate, educate, used and pondered.  I believe artist feel this need and create with this transfer of information in mind.  We heal not only ourselves while in the state of "creative flow," but hopefully heal others as we create, communicate, share and connect to the person that appreciates the art upon viewing or better yet touch.

Even a few items in your home or garden of handcrafted art that "speak" to you will transform the space and fill you by viewing, use or touch and listening or feeling what it reveals.   The art of prehistoric man communicating the wonders of his world to any other souls that may wander into the cave where they left their art is still visible today.  No words necessary, no translation needed.

Why not create your home into your Sacred Space, filled with the things that fill your soul and bring you peace.  Filled here does not refer to quantity, but to joy or peace.  Your Sacred Space may be in your garden, your bedroom, bathroom, or if your bliss is cooking, your kitchen.

I will explore in this blog Sacred Spaces, the history of Sacred Spaces, Art and Healing, as well as how to create yours.  Let me know if there is a specific area you would like me to focus, and of course I am always interested in learning about your Sacred Space and Rituals if you care to share.  What fills and heals you?

If you have an idea and would like to see it come to life in clay, email, text or call we can chat a while about the best ways to create your vision. Or perhaps create a moment captured in clay from or for a wedding, a gift, or honor a beloved companion pet, and organizing your home and garden with handcrafted functional art.  Let's discuss your vision.
